La Fabrique (i)matérielle
Special project between 3 video artists (Romain Tardy aka Aalto and Olivier Ratsi aka Emovie both from Paris, Yannick Jacquet aka Legoman from Brussels), a sound creator (Thomas Vaquié from Brussels) and a enlightener, video artist and handyman (Olivier Clausse aka mAo l’Ampoule from Le Mans).
These five artists with parallel art development between image, sound and matter gathered together for an artistic residence in the region of Le Mans, France.
The main purpose of this project was to highlight the link between a particular architecture (in this case, the hangar of “Les Subsistances”) and a group of different techniques such as projection and volume work.
The pre-existing elements of the hangar were taken in consideration as a major inspiration as the project progressed. For example the marks on the ground, the material that was used to build the hangar (sheet iron, concrete, bricks and other metallic forms). They became virtual thanks to the video work.
Ces cinq artistes aux parcours parallèles entre le son, l’image et la matière se sont rassemblés dans le cadre de deux résidences en Sarthe : la première au Prieuré de Vivoin et la seconde au terrain des Subsistances, au Mans pour une création intitulée la fabrique (I)Matérielle.
Le propos artistique principal fut de mettre en évidence le lien qui peut se créer entre une architecture donnée (en l’occurrence celle du hangar du terrain des Subsistances, au Mans) et un ensemble plastique faisant appel à différentes techniques, tels que la projection, ou encore le travail en volume, recoupant ici la question du support de projection et son articulation avec le lieu.
Un des axes de recherche a été la prise en compte des éléments pré-éxistants à l’installation, tels que les marques au sol, les matériaux utilisés pour la construction du hangar (jeux déjà existants entre tôle, béton, brique et autres formes métalliques), qui par exemple sont amenés à être «virtualisés» par le biais de la projection.
